STAGE 1 / LESSON 7: HERE IS MY HAND

LESSON PLAN

LANGUAGE

1. Ask students "what's this / what are these?" while holding up or pointing to your own body parts.
Alternatively, you can use the body part flashcards (be aware that knees / elbows are not in the flashcards).
Make sure to teach the body parts in the song: (hands/foot/feet, ears/knees, elbows).

2. Ask students "how many (ears) do you have?" "Two!" Teach "I have two (ears)".
3. Ask students to shake a body part: "shake your hands / shake your elbows".

SONG

You may wish to speak the words of the song slowly and teach the actions, before singing with the music. See the song lyrics for actions.

WORKSHEETS

Practice the lesson language with these worksheets.

ACTIVITY

1. Ask students to line up against a wall.
2. Tell students to “put your hand on your head”. Teacher also does the action.
3. Tell students to “put your hand on your knee”. Teacher also does the action.
4. Tell students to “jump”.

Students jump while keeping their hands on head and knee.

You can choose any body parts and action within reason, for example:
put your foot on your knee, put your elbow on your tummy, hop!

put your hand on your shoulder, put your foot on your foot, turn around”.

Students enjoy the challenge of balancing and doing the actions.

*Avoid asking students to “run” to prevent injury. Avoid asking students to do difficult stretches while doing an action (e.g. put your head on your knees).
